Goshen College performs plays on the lives of the saints

Last summer the theme of the 2008 Bridgefolk conference was “Saints and the Spirituality that Sustains Them.”  News of a specially-commissioned series of short plays being performed this coming weekend at a Mennonite college is particularly striking, therefore.

Goshen College in Indiana will be hosting a series of plays based on the lives of saints, written by Erik Ehn. This event is largely in memory of Catholic student Deanne Binde, who died this summer in a car accident. Deanne was very involved in theatre at Goshen, and this event is an attempt by the college community to offer a time of reflection on her life in the community. One of the plays to be directed has been written by Ehn about Binde and the saint of her birthday, Rose of Viterbo.
